These awards are especially important to us because we take pride in our corporate culture, and knowing that our corporate culture is having a positive impact on the community is a wonderful feeling. This latest award, “Excellence in Social Media People Campaign” was presented by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at their annual gala. The award focuses on social media activity that engages outside employment prospects and garners a sense of community and growth within the existing employee base.

At OSSCube, A Division of Happiest Minds we have always fostered a creative and educational environment. Over time we’ve learned that the most engaged employees are those who enjoy coming to work every day; but we also know that this is easier said than done. Free snacks and happy hours aren’t quite enough to boost corporate morale. We’ve designed dozens of seminars, trainings, and other events with the sole intention of building a stronger and more successful community of “cubians,” and though it may appear simple, a vast amount of planning and coordination has gone into these activities. Though planning team building events may seem like a simple science, it can actually be quite complex. That’s why we’re going to share with you our list of objectives and initiatives for every personnel-focused campaign we execute.

Objectives:

1. Imbibing the key essence of open source into a social media management program

OSSCube is built on open source, and our solutions and services benefit from the collaborative environment on which open source runs. Our success as a global solution provider comes from the flexibility and community-driven environment of open source; our contributions to OS software helps move the developer community forward in a way that wouldn’t be possible without group inputs.

We use our experiences in the open source world to promote a collaborative environment of open-communication, transparency, and decentralization. When everyone has a voice, everyone feels their worth within a company.

2. Social recognition and values reinforcement

Team-building activities and friendly competition, coupled with performance recognition help employees see the big picture of how their actions—and successes—affect the company as a whole. Without employee recognition team members would be susceptible to feeling unimportant and undervalued, which is too often the source of unhappiness in the workplace.

3. Brand ambassador

The benefits of professional development and training don’t stop within the walls of any corporate office. When employees are engaged, educated, and excited about their work, those messages will undoubtedly be spread amongst their peers and personal networks. By simply making employees feel happy and respected, you are creating your own “army” of brand advocates, spreading positive images to the public, and recruiting talent that identifies with your company’s values.

4. Thought leadership

We boast a content-driven social media approach that positions OSSCube as a though leader in all of our practice areas, including HCM. Through our social channels we promote our ideas, reach our to community members, engage with potential and current team members as well as alumni. Using public social channels we engage an active employee community while addressing the needs of clients and businesses across the world. Our approach simplifies the search for qualified job applicants by engaging only those who are interested in the work we do.

Initiatives:

Now that you’ve gotten the high-level overview of our corporate objectives, let’s talk about how we get it all done.

1. Leveraged community collaboration

We actively engage prospective, current, and past employees in various ways. From writing blog posts, to attending informative webinars, meet ups, and trainings, all those who are familiar with OSSCube are given the opportunity to interact with us. In addition, we host hackathons and coding events, and routinely solidify our place in the open source community through collaborative software contributions. These experiences promote the idea of evangelism and enhance the notion of making community members heroes for their own organization, by teaching them new ways to solve problems.

2. OSSCube Connect

The number one form of collaboration and communication within OSSCube, our intranet service, Connect, is the platform through which all company news is shared, and hundreds of thought-provoking discussions are carried out.

Built and curated 100% in-house, connect serves as a blogging and micro-blogging platform where all members of OSSCube are encouraged to post about daily events, life achievements, project milestones, and so much more. With it’s own full-time “Creative lead” serving as the company’s internal reporter, the site also acts as a social platform to promote employee recognition and peer acknowledgement. Connect has managed to connect over 500 employees in multiple countries, and combine them into one succinct team.

So there you have it! The most important aspects of our internal social media people campaigns, and how we carry them out.
