IMS Automation: Things To Keep In Mind

IT infrastructure forms the bedrock of an enterprise. The demands placed on the IMS (Infrastructure Management and Security) team are many—to maintain the optimal level for service on a daily basis, reduce disruptions to avoid critical system failures and to enhance the user experience, and respond quickly to any new requests and changes that may arise. However, the ability to respond rapidly is often undermined by the sheer volume of routine tasks that must be undertaken to maintain service standards. Moreover, these can divert much of the effort and resources away from transforming the infrastructure to meet new demands. It is here that automation can play a significant role—routine processes and the maintenance of core assets can be automated, freeing the team to focus on application management, user experience, etc.; thus, reducing the burden on infrastructure management.

Today, with the faster evolution of technology and ever-increasing consumerization, there is a demand for ultimate flexibility and innovation. Customers expect to be recognized and pampered, and they switch loyalty for the smallest of added perceived value – be it monetary based, convenience based, or experience based.

Driving Revenues Through Personalised Segmented Content

I recently read a statistic from analyst firm Gartner which stated that by 2016 89 per cent of marketers expect to compete primarily on the basis of the customer experience their brand, product and service delivers to the client or the consumer. A truly personalised user experience can make a customer feel highly valued, which is almost impossible to achieve through print or billboard adverts.

Disruptive Technologies: Arriving At A Specification Document… Is The Biggest Challenge

Going with the norm treads a relatively easy path, whereas going against the flow brings its own set of challenges. If all that you do is try to disrupt what exists, the complications are that much more. Babu K.C., general manager and head, hardware practice, and Divya Sasidharan, engineering manager, both from Happiest Minds, talk to Dilin Anand and Priya Ravindran of EFY about dealing with disruptive technologies and the challenges that crop up along the way

Indian startup ecosystem… Older generation entrepreneurs

Soota’s startup story is as unique as it has shaped out to be. Being something of a serial entrepreneur, Soota started Mindtree in 1999 at the age of 58 and is now at it again, this time with a new start up called Happiest Minds, a next-generation IT company. After some three decades already in the IT sector, Soota believes that a late-stage entrepreneur like himself has several advantages. “If you have a good track record, it becomes easier to get funding at good valuations. I had a good plan to scale the company and I have a better network. Mindtree works in a crowded space. There are people out there who are doing similar things. So my biggest apprehension was always why a customer would come to us. But after the first four or five customers, I overcame that as well,” says Soota.

Happiest Minds features in HfS Blueprint: Software Product Engineering Services

The scope of this Blueprint was software product engineering services for ISVs and internet companies. We excluded software product engineering work for enterprises because it is still an emerging area and there is a lack of a common understanding among service providers of what enterprise work will qualify as ADM versus SPE. There are five service providers in our Winner’s Circle. They all have the scale and are making investments in technologies, design and IP capabilities to push this market forward. High Performers and other service providers are also capable of delivering high-quality services. I was also impressed by three small service providers Belatrix, Happiest Minds and Nexient which are new age software product engineering service providers without any legacy hangover. Their scale is very small, and practice areas are still evolving, but their direction is good. They all have a promising future if they are able to scale up with systems and process and able to maintain their focus.
